Sue Foll has been working as a freelance photographer since July 2007. This represents a return to an old passion after 24 years in the design industry.
Graduating with a first class honours degree from Bristol Polytechnic in 1984 Foll moved up to London to assist photographers. This continued for a year before she was lured back into design by the emerging magazine boom of the mid eighties.
Working on titles as diverse as Empire and Elle Deco, she also devloped a practice producing original design for art gelleries and artists including the Hayward Gallery, Kettle's Yard, Bookworks and Riverside Studios.
In 1991 Sue was in introduced to David Driver, Head of Design at The Times. Initially commissioned to design the Barcelona Olympic supplement, this led to a full time job for the next 14 years working on nearly every aspect of the newspaper.
In 2003 she was appointed chief designer of the new Saturday section body&soul, transferring after two years to Times Travel before departing in 2007.
Since leaving Times design, Foll has been honing her photographic skills, travelling to Hong Kong for Chinese New Year and completing a portraiture course at Central St Martins. In April this year she started approaching potential clients.
Over the last five months she has shot for The BBC, Times Travel, body&soul, Money, Bricks&Mortar and Books sections, The Sunday Times, London Underground, Quadrille books and Haymarket publications.
In the future Sue Foll looks forward to developing her portraiture skills and individual style.
